The 1st Technical Working Group Meeting of SEANF 2025 Held in Jakarta
In 2024, the Indonesian National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) assumed the chairmanship of the South East Asia National Human Rights Institutions Forum (SEANF) for the 2024–2025 term.
Komnas HAM hosted the First Technical Working Group (TWG)—on April 23–24, 2025, at The Grove Suites, Kuningan, Jakarta. The meeting was officially opened by SEANF Chairperson, Dr. Atnike Nova Sigiro. The forum brought together delegations from all six SEANF member institutions: Komnas HAM (Indonesia), SUHAKAM (Malaysia), CHRP (Philippines), NHRCT (Thailand), MNHRC (Myanmar), and PDHJ (Timor-Leste).
The TWG meeting was chaired by Dr. Henry Silka Innah, Secretary General of Komnas HAM. The discussions focused on SEANF’s work plan along with other key agenda items which covered recent developments within member institutions, their ongoing efforts in promoting and protecting human rights, and the implementation of SEANF’s strategic priorities for 2022–2026. These include the fulfillment of human rights during the COVID-19 pandemic, business and human rights, and the prevention of torture and other cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment.
Komnas HAM is scheduled to host the 2nd TWG Meeting of SEANF in July 2025, in Yogyakarta, Indonesia
