The Southeast Asia National Human Rights Institutions Forum (SEANF) made significant progress during its first Technical Working Group (TWG) Meeting of 2017, hosted by the Commission on Human Rights of the Philippines (CHRP) in Quezon City on April 27-28.

Key Discussions & Outcomes:

🔹 Rights of Older Persons

  • Members shared national updates on policies and programs, with CHRP highlighting its work with the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) on aging issues.

🔹 Strategic Priorities

  • Reviewed implementation of the SEANF Strategic Plan (2017-2021)
  • Discussed Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), business & human rights, and migration challenges in the region

🔹 Institutional Development

  • Advanced plans for the SEANF Permanent Secretariat
  • Strengthened engagement strategies with ASEAN and the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR)
