The Southeast Asia National Human Rights Institutions Forum (SEANF), comprising Indonesia’s Komnas HAM, Malaysia’s SUHAKAM, Myanmar’s MNHRC, Philippines’ CHRP, Thailand’s NHRCT, and Timor-Leste’s PDHJ, held its 12th Annual Meeting in Putrajaya on 29-30 September 2015, hosted by SUHAKAM.

Key Outcomes:

  • Successful seminar on NHRIs‘ role (108 participants from governments, UN, NGOs)
  • Adoption of forward-looking agenda including “SEANF – The Way Forward
  • Agreement to focus on single thematic issues annually, starting with rights of older persons
  • Progress on Permanent Secretariat establishment with Indonesian government funding
  • Interim Secretariat to draft 2017-2022 Strategic Plan for review at 2016 TWG Meeting

The meeting strengthened regional cooperation through concrete planning for more impactful human rights protection.
