Komnas HAM Supported SEANF’s Programs Comprehensively
Komnas HAM has hosted 1st and 2nd Technical Working Group Virtual Meeting the South East Asia National Human Rights Institution Forum (TWG 2 SEANF). In 1st TWG that held on 12-14 May 2020, various issues raised by SEANF’s members.
The main discussion from NHRCT focused on the development of guidelines for the prevention of torture in South East Asia. The CHRP also presented a draft baseline paper on migrant workers and various case handling on human rights defenders.
Komnas HAM also reported the development of the management of the SEANF Permanent Secretariat and the creation of the official SEANF website. Moreover, Komnas HAM explaining the complementary process of the development of Permanent Secretariat by the Host Country Agreement mechanism that has been started since July 2019.
Meanwhile, the establishment of the official SEANF website which has been mandated since the 16th Annual Meeting of SEANF in October 2019 in Dili, Timor Leste began to proceed. Through an internal meeting with the Human Rights Promotion Support Bureau, Komnas HAM created a logo draft and mock up of SEANF site layout. The finalization of the creation and management of the site has been launched in the 17th Annual Meeting/Conference.
In 2nd TWG that held on 25-27 August 2020, NHRCT (Thailand) and CHRP (Philippines) discussed guidelines for the use and management of the SEANF social media platform.
SEANF Chairperson Ahmad Taufan Damanik hoped development programs that have been created by every members can stimulate the Forum’s advance globally.
